redundancy

1) the state of being not or no longer needed or useful.
2) the inclusion of extra components which are not strictly necessary to functioning, in case of failure in other components.
Redundancy is based on a belief system.
I say this because if we knew something was going to fail, we would fix it.
When we don’t know that something will fail but believe it could, redundancy comes into play.

Since redundancy is based on a belief system, changing how we feel about it and accepting other ideas is very hard.
The less we know and understand, causes us to buy into more of the
“what if…”
Therefore, the more redundancy we think we need.
Like politics and religion, our beliefs are based on how much we know and understand.

Some organizations make redundancy a requirement. You could say these are churches.
It is your choice to belong to a church or not. Your choice may be based on getting a paycheck, so own the institutional beliefs.
Understand why they exist. Don’t think a different belief is wrong just because it is not from your church.
Redundancy in a system without educated thought or scientific reason is something I like to call…
